Research

At the Institute of Biology and Medicine of Stress of Athens, we are committed to a science-based approach to understanding, assessing, and treating stress. As a multidisciplinary hub of research, clinical care, and community outreach, we aim to improve individual well-being and public health through innovative and evidence-informed practices.

The initial goal is to promote and disseminate scientific knowledge concerning the biological mediators/hormones related to stress and their interactions with the brain, body, and behavior, as well as their clinical applications.

Highlights..

1st Workshop of Stress Biology & Medicine (ISBM)

The Institute of Stress Biology & Medicine (ISBM) successfully organized its first workshop. The workshop was held at the Auditorium of the Hall of the Research Laboratory of the 1st Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens, at the Aghia Sophia Children's Hospital, on Saturday 12 December 2015 and was attended by more than 130 people (biologists, psychiatrists, neurologists, psychologists, pediatricians, students, etc.).

Therapeutic Updates - April 2016

Participation of ISBM in the 49th Scientific Conference of the A Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens with relevant topics.

1st Panhellenic Conference of ISBM January 20-22, 2017

ISBM is an interdisciplinary group aiming to promote and disseminate scientific knowledge regarding biological mediators related to stress and their interactions with the brain, body and behavior, as well as the clinical applications of this knowledge. The creative communication between the scientific teams will deepen the understanding of the mechanisms involved in the physiology and pathophysiology of stress with ultimate benefits for research

SYMPOSIUM: Early life Stress in Narrative & Precision Medicine - 25th Sept 2018

The Symposium of the Institute of Stress of Biology and Medicine (IBIS) on Early Stress and its relation to the health and diseases of children, adolescents and adults on 25/9/2018 is part of the events before the start of the Annual Congress of the European Society of Pediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) which took place in Athens.

PEERS research project - January 2020 to June 2022

PEERS will provide practical recommendations for experimental design and scientific reporting, as a tool to increase data robustness and reproducibility.

Dissemination workshop SHARE4BRAIN - September 2021

The Share4Brain project aims to unite patients, brain researchers, scientists, clinicians and carers at a national level and to provide them with the skills and knowledge necessary to promote brain research and raise awareness about the societal impact of brain diseases.
